Sometimes, something beautiful and unexpected lands in your lap...
I live in one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa, deep in the heart of Zululand. At some stage, I found myself sharing our lodge with a swarm of bees. Rather than resorting to immediate extermination, I sought a beekeeper to relocate them safely. This act of conservation led to a newfound hobby, and now I proudly tend to over 70 hives, finding a deep connection with these industrious creatures.
My bees, like me, enjoy staying busy. Regular hive inspections, honey harvesting, and packaging are all done with love, filling my heart with happiness. Each and every hive is different. Opening them up is like unwrapping a present, a surprise, a God-given gift. A reminder that new miracles happen every single day.
I cherish every moment with the bees, and I find the process of hive to honey very rewarding. I let my bees roam free in their harvest field where their hives are sited and do not mix the honey harvests; this makes the honey unique in taste and one of a kind.
As I continued my journey, surrounded by the rhythmic hum of bees and the lush beauty of nature on our Macadamia farm, I realised there was more to explore. It struck me that our family-owned farm produced an excess of perfectly good, handpicked macadamia nuts. This surplus led to the birth of a delightful product line – Hive&Harvest – a fusion of nature’s bounty and artisan craftsmanship.
This brand isn’t just a business venture; it’s a celebration of the natural rhythm that unites the hive and the harvest, echoing the harmo ny of our farm. So, as you experience the hand-crafted excellence and irresistible taste, know that each product is born from my heart to your home, a manifestation of the passion and commitment that define Hive&Harvest.
